Old School – Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Thank You!

First of all, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! As it’s Christmas Week and we close in on the end of 2019, it is appropriate to think of how blessed many of us are and reflect on the past year. Since each individual’s feeling of being blessed is personal, I’ll speak to the business side of “being blessed” as that, to a large extent, can be more broadly defined. (Also, since this is a business blog, I should write from a business perspective). With unemployment at record lows, the stock market setting records and 401Ks and other retirement accounts are growing exponentially, the country is generally blessed. On the media side, the only constant is change. However, I’ve recently been reading a lot about how traditional media forms are still vital to the media mix. While this isn’t necessarily, “the more things change, the more they stay the same”, it does seem like the pendulum is swinging back with many big brands. That sounds like “Old School” thinking and media still are essential.

Speaking of “Old School”, not counting this one, I published 21 blogs this year and had over 7,000 total views on LinkedIn alone. These blogs were read across over 20 different markets by individuals from dozens of companies including agencies, media and tech companies, restaurant and food service businesses, law firms, financial institutions and university professors. While I do not know how this all compares to other bloggers, I am amazed and very pleased that so many people from different parts of the country engaged in what I shared. For that, I thank everyone who has read any of my blogs this year. Hopefully, these two-minute Old School perspectives will educate, entertain and possibly even enlighten you in 2020.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
